north of the GWB, the George Washington Bridge to NYC, Cresskill is predominately a residential community with a total of 2,702 housing units.
City, small borough size and a terrific school system which is small enough to offer individual attention yet rich with extra activities & AP (Advance Placement) offerings with an outstanding curriculum as well as before and after school programs, all make this town very desirable and special.
learning skills & self esteem along with the basic curriculum. The Cresskill Jr. Sr. High school continues to achieve great results when it comes to SAT scores, well above the national and state averages, graduates are attending four year colleges in extremely high percentages and are going on to some of the most prestigious institutions. As a small high school it is able to offer individualized attention not only to students but to parents as well, enabling a true partnership between school staff and the community. Technology plays a key roll in education these days and in Cresskill it is integrated on all levels with a computer to student ratio of 3:1.
dedicated to residential use is unimpeded by any commercial encroachment .
Rte. 9W & The Palisades Parkway, both along the east side of the borough, put the commuter within minutes driving time of the GW Bridge. Public transportation is also available with frequent direct bus service to NYC as well as to other points in NJ. Although currently Cresskill has no direct train service from town, commuter trains are available not too far away with park-n'-ride stations in River Edge and Hackensack, about 15-20 minutes away by car. Discussions are underway to possibly revive the rail line running through the center of town for commuter purposes. Although historically the coming of the original train line in the 1860’s played a major roll in the further development of the area, now days, with the exception of very limited freight activity, this line is hardly in use. The possibility of future direct light rail service is till in the discussion & planning stages and a while away, however, it remains a viable option which when & if brought to fruition will create added value to this already hot in-demand real estate region.
Travel times are approximate and of course depend on traffic so it is always wise to plan airport trips at off peak times to avoid rush-hour traffic when possible.
